Shoeshine boy shines in IIT entrance examination
|
|
He helps his father, a cobbler, mend shoes in his spare time while his mother stitches rags to support the family, but financial hardships have not stopped Abhishek Kumar Bhartiya from passing the IIT entrance exam with flying colours. Abhishek, who secured rank 154 in the SC category, now wants to propel his dreams by pursuing aerospace engineering at IIT-Kanpur.

Thanks to those who attended and contributed to making the PanIIT event at Chicago a success more than ever before. IIT Roorkee's presence was not only evident through its leadership, but also by the number of attendees, which went up to about 150 from about 40 at any such previous conferences. We missed those who could not make it.

The US Congress approved a House Resolution (no. 227) honoring the IITs in a similar way! The first time that a foreign university has been so honored by the US Congress!
