Probably the Oldest Alumni alive today [1931 Graduate]

I am myself a 1974 Mechanical graduate from UOR and Mr. Janeshewar Prasad is my father who is still in reasonably good health.
It would be a matter of pride to invite him on the next convocation.

~ Shri Janeshwar Prasad, FIE, is the oldest Alumni of 1931 batch of Thomason College of Civil Engineering, who is alive today. The Principal of the College was Mr. P. P. Phillips in 1931.
~ In his batch there were six guaranteed appointment posts and he was one out of these six.
~ He was the first and the last person who passed in the grade of an overseer and rose to the position of Superintending Engineer. None other Overseer in Irrigation department had this distinction.
~ He passed qualifying exam for promotion to U.P. Services of Engineers (Irrigation Branch) held at the College on 04th of December 1944.
~ He was confirmed as Assistant Engineer w.e.f. April 01, 1953. He served as Executive Engineer – in - charge of a Division for 13 years and 6 months from 26-01-1954 to 15-07-1968
~ He was promoted to Superintending Engineer w.e.f. 16 July 1968 and served till retirement i.e. 10 Jan. 1971.
~ During his tenure he had worked on many important Works and Projects in the Department. And after retirement from the Department, he was appointed as government Approved Valuer – Engineer by the Ministry of Finance.
~ He has three sons and four daughters happily married to Engineer Spouses. His youngest son Lt. Col. Sunil Kumar is also an Alumnus of University of Roorkee who did his BE in 1974 and ME in 1983. He has also submitted his PhD as a part time candidate at IIT Roorkee recently.
~ Shri Janeshwar Prasad has opened a charitable homeopathic hospital at his residence in Saharanpur; he keeps himself busy all the time and this is the secret of his good health and long life. He is running his ninety eighth year and is still on his feet!
